S04 Sanitaryware Ceramics

Sanitaryware ceramics is relatively a single type of porcelain, and the firing temperature is generally between 1180-1250 °C. In China, due to the slightly different raw materials used in the southern (south of the Yangtze River) and northern ceramic plants, the firing temperature in the northern porcelain area is generally lower (1180-1220 ° C), and it is generally higher (1220-1250 ° C) in the southern porcelain area. However, in recent years, the firing temperature in the southern porcelain area has also shown a downward trend. The kilns used for sanitaryware ceramics are mainly tunnel kilns and shuttle kilns. Roller kilns are also used but relatively rare. The firing time is generally 8-15 hours, and the firing atmosphere is oxidizing atmosphere. It is one- time firing for sanitaryware ceramics. The re-firing temperature of defective products after repair is slightly lower (1130-1180°C). Decoration firing in later process is also available, which firing temperature is generally 800-900°C. The types of kiln fuel mainly include natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, city gas, producer gas and diesel oil, etc.
